Re: These are lovely, Ciel!

Ah, gypsypoet, you sound like someone who enjoys the feel of the pen in your fingers, the very sensation of writing...!  Send an email if you'd like info on ordering some paper.  Charlie took a bunch of this batch, but there is still plenty left in various shapes, sizes and textures.

TAPS, I used to do that.. It was some fun!

But it is huge effort and energy which isn't in great abundance these years, though I am sure Davy would have a blast at such a place... on a leash!  The last one Charlie and I went to, they had jousting and horses and all!

I have hefted a coat of mail--yes, it is heavy stuff!  Can you imagine knitting it from steel wool...?

Thanks, RR!
I hope the art isn't relying on me...lol!

You should be in a booth with your wares at our Renaissance Festival in the fall every year.  Son #3 loves that Period and he always goes.  He makes authentic stuff and sell them there and always gets a good price.  Picture is nephew trying on son's chain mail.  It weighs a ton.  I tried it on and really felt weighed down.  He also has made Medieval boots, gauntlets, and other items.

These are really beautiful. Glad the art won't die out but might be taken over by the next generation.

Re: I love the little ditty...

Illumination is how it all began with me, Chuck--exactly the effect I was going for!  Lindisfarne and likewise the Book of Kells are a bit beyond my skills and dedication, however!

I love the little ditty...
..that accompanies the dragon in the top picture and the bottom picture reminds me of medieval manuscript illumination.
Is there a Lindisfarne Gospel in your future?

Mr Quibble, The King of Elfland's Daughter was written by Lord Dunsany,
you goofy thing!

Ciel
Very neat! It's the sort of thing I enjoy admiring, though could never do myself, both for lack of skill and the lack of patience for acquiring it, lol. Of course, the dragon with his overbite doesn't look fearsome but cute! And as you probably know by now, I am a compulsive quibbler, and that's why I have to tell you that the King of Elfland's daughter is not Lord Dunsany but Lady Dunsany...

Thanks, mneme!

I do know of Wm Morris, though I didn't know that much about him.  I have seen some of his prints and wall papers.

I have long been a fan of art nouveau!

Re: Well, You two have had....

Thanks, Tex!  We do enjoy one another's company, and also our independence when we are off in our own lives.  Letting go is hard for a mom, especially the last kid--but the freedom is compensation...  So why oh why did I get a puppy!?

(You can meet Davy in earlier posts of this blog, in words and pictures.)

Ciel these are lovely
-and did you know William Morris (19th C artist and writer) also researched and resurrected medieval crafts? (if I've remembered it right).  You can still buy William Morris prints and wallpapers today.

Well, You two have had....
a good time and now it is off to school. The memories of good times never leave. Enjoy the last hours for this time. The art work is very good!
