Yes, Sam I remember...

I remember climbing my first tree and my difficulty getting down with my feet trembling. I also remember my first fall flat on my back when I tried to imitate Tarzan in a movie "Tarzan finds a Son" with Johnny Weismuller as lead star. And suddenly I remember the song "Where have all the flowers gone, etc, etc, etc.?" Cleverly creative in its simplicity Sammy, I love it.

First climbed a tree
Woefully I can not remember the first time I did. However, we lived on my grandparents estate and there were many kinds of trees. There were elms, oaks, maples willows, apple and cherry trees. I'm sure I did climb everyone. This brings a lot of nostalgia of those times.

I have a very good long-term memory. I love it. It is so neat to reminisce.
What I can't remember is where I put something yesterday.
Great poem. I really enjoyed it.

I like this - especially declaring that the fall you felt would end it all was just a scrape when you look back on it. That was one of the first things I learned to say when training to work a suicide hotline. Oh, the intense emotions we think we'll never get over. And we do.....great poem, Sammy. Mal

Well I’m not quite old and grey but yes… I remember those moments. I remember all the triumphs and failures. Perhaps they don’t define us but they can redefine us – shape us into who we are today. This line was absolutely superb:
reminiscent of coins in a fountain feeling rich although without a penny!

Oh, yes!
I remember it well. Climbing trees with my brothers and sisters were great back
then. What a joy it was? I remember the last time I climbed one too. I found a
snake skin in the very top of the last tree I climbed. Since then, my tree climbing
days were over. But it was great while it lasted. I don't recall my first fall.
Been too long ago. Although I am now greying, I recall the fond memories.
Thanks for the reminder.

You know
I might just go back and climb that same tree... I am feeling nostalgic now. Wonderful poem, the impact is immediate and it caught me up in it's moment.

sam, yes I remember that first tree as if it was yesterday...I didn't get
very high into it, but I did get about halfway...

..(we had a cat at that time who liked that same tree and seemed to taunt me to "come and get him"..

yeah Sammy... youve gone and done it now... loll, for what is there to remember? anything we did then we did better than we can do the same now and if we didn't do it better, at least we thought we did. Its fun to remember " way back when" until you got to come back to "now". WE are near or already in the not-so-golden-years... and we can't afford to reminesce... we must forge ahead...hair ( what is left of it) blowing in the wind and a smile ( with whatever teeth are left) always in our faces, for to look back is to risk falling and braking our hip... I am with Mike ( muley) tonight... Its been a crappy day but your poem is fantastically beautiful as always

so maybe there is still hope :-) Take care of you xoxoxo
