Your pride is your own
You know pride and getting help sometimes are two different things.  I had never had assistance from government ever before, always worked. Then about three years ago I realised i had to, I did not want to

have my family hand over all they worked hard for for me. The thing I discovered was that 99% of the other people there were just like me, people who worked hard all their life. Good luck with the job search.

Shelly,
You go Gurl! Hey, can I have the money the government is willing to send you?  No, seriously, you have a good head on your shoulders and I'm glad you KNOW you're going to be fine (and that you are already fine!) xoxo

I know exactly how you feel, Shelly.  I have no choice but to accept governmental help because I'm unable to work.  But I still hate it when people make me feel small.  Stand your ground, Sweetie...

dont let your pride get in the way of the things you have worked hard for all these years, I am like that and I was once on welfare and I was embarassed to go to the stores I normally shopped at, but I really needed it.  Its those that abuse the system and get things they didnt work for that mess with us that need some help.  Take it shelly if need be

Through the years, I invited different family members to stay with me for a while between jobs or between moves.  I had plenty of room and each of them had a need at the time.  A nephew, a niece, and two sisters were among my sojourners that each stayed for six months or more.  I never made suggestions or gave advice or complained at them and each of them solved their problems and moved on when the time was right.  People just need the opportunity to work out their own problems.

I know once I find a job, I won't need help.

hazel, no, they don't mind me being here...I guess they are just trying to help?  But let me decide what is best for me.  I just don't need any help from someone other than family.

There's nothing wrong with getting help. If you can get by I can't really fault you though for not pursuing those avenues.

Hazel, it's just that I'm 40 years old. Let me decide what's best for me.
you know?  I know they are helping with a place to stay for a while but it's different.  It's family.  Family does helps out one another.  Thje state and government are not my family.  I don't need them.

I know what ya mean , shelly
All these years I"ve been struggling, one job to the other trying desperately to find a job that I could handle (fibromyalgia sucks)...have never asked for help, either. Now, I'm finally thinking about it,, but it's so hard for me..I have my pride, too...but I am really struggling. You'll be fine and will find another job...to hell with them.
