Re: Oh for the sake of a little history

Welcome, Cebes!

Question for you: Did FDR's policies end the Great Depression? Or did they prolong it?

As for the current mess, look back at my writings concerning the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and you'll see that government - as practiced by a Congress full of corrupt Democrats - was indeed a major problem.

Concerning bailouts, market subsidies, etc. - not a good idea. Especially when poor business practices, such as those of the auto makers, are rewarded.

Oh for the sake of a little history

Please just stop your right wing, sophmoric rants and pick up a history book about the Depression/War and Recovery of the American Economy.  Who do you think provided jobs and incomes during the depression?  Who got us into a war to induce production? Who passed legislation for the GI bIll?

If government is the problem who fought for and got repeal of Glass Steagal and the eventual financial collapse that we now expereince? It was the government and the private sector.  If you still believe in free markets you are a dupe. What about the fact that 90% of all agricultural farm prices are set by marketing boards not supply and demand. How about Archer Danieal Midland getting $100M over the past ten years for export assistance. Because when things get tough for farmers they get bigger subsidies from you the taxpayer.

Look at the bailout for the financial-auto industry.  Whose next in this self correcting free market.

give us a break and present both sides after you finish your course work.
