I know what you mean. Our hectic lifestyles have really made commong courtesy go by the wayside and people become aloof of their surroundings.

Ohhh...You are singing my song...
but be thankful that every day does not have to be like this day.  Thankfully, days do not duplicate themselves entirely!

Glad you were able to rant! I agree with you, there are far to many rude ones out there in positions they do not belong in! I have a few friends who take forever to respond too! Never ending battle among some! I hope things improve! sam

Hello,

First thanks for your comments on my blog about "Moms being called shlumpy". Can you believe that Oprah did a mom makeover show and some "fashion expert" actually called some poor overworked, underappreciate mom shlumpy. That's what gave me the idea to write the blog. I say if you really want to give a mom a "makeover" give her a day off, a massage, a nanny, a housecleaner, and a lot of wine. Anyway, I enjoyed your blog about saying thank you - I say it all the time and so many people don't even respond. Or how about when you open a door for someone and they walk right through it and don't even say thank you - oh that pisses me off too!!! Anyway, I totally understand that moment when your baby finally smiles after months of taking every single ounce of energy out of you. When my daughter did it, it was pure magic. Look forward to reading more of your blogs and nice meeting you too!

This is a good place to vent.
and you can feel better for it. The person who has the bad attitude isn't going change anytime soon and really doesn't care what is going on with you or even what you think so vent here and then be happy.

Fabulous! And noted...esp. the grocery one. On my more ornery days I'm obnoxiously over-enthused when dealing with a lack of professional courtesy such as your "you're welcome!" example. I can feel my husband cringing behind me when I'm the recipient of bad customer service..."hell hath no fury" doesn't even begin to describle the odd and chronic phenomenon that is my smart-assery.

Re: texasgem
I prefer to lay them low........A resounding "You're Welcome!" to a silent "Thank You"......

A "Do you work here or are you robbing the place?"  usually works, unless I'm hoping for a double whammy, by asking  "Do you work here or are you the manager?  "You get two points if it is the manager)

In the grocery, "Could you ring this up before it goes out of date?"  usually works............

It's a marvelous way to vent and relax.......

typically I would take the high road as you described and I know better than to give power over my mind to morons, but I think I wanted to wallow today. Thanks for your thoughts!

You have nailed many dead to right!
Believe it or not, I thought some of what you wrote today when I went to the admittance office at the hospital. I patiently stood at the counter while the receptionist totally ignored me. She would talk on the phone and to her co-workers and for 5 minutes or so it was as if I wasn't even there. Any chance of a smile had longed faded and she was in a foul mood. I sat down until she looked over at me and asked if she could help me. Huh? Lady, you seriously need a tude adjustment. I refused though to let her ruin my day! Think, it has to get better before it can get worse!

Thanks, TAPS...
I only vent here on blogit because it's relatively safe. Being a big fan of good manners I don't go ranting like this in real life...okay, not out loud...okay, not when anyone is around...forget it.

Fledgling_Phoenix, just keep being a wonderful example of beauty and light, and don't worry if they don't respond.  You are making your own life better, and theirs, even if they don't know it.  Keep smiling.
