If you believe that, I'm glad your ilk has lost power.  The rest of us know better.

Re: Astounding
On the one point worth responding to: Are Americans that weak? Thanks to mouses like you, we're getting there.

Astounding
Now, why should openly gay soldiers in the American military cause a morale problem when they have no problem with them in other militaries?  Are Americans that weak?

Oh, and your slur on pagans is offensive.  The Romans, you may remember, invented the Republic, and other pagans gave us the concept of the rule of law, and democracy.  Plus philosophy, including ethics, so in a sense, they invented morality.

It too bad as the military is going to become another touchy, feely, feel good thing like everything else.

I do believe openly gay men in the military could pose a big problem and I wonder if hetero's will ever get used to it.

Re: Re: Also, Xeno

you always dig your own pit.

Mark 4:26-28 And He said, The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed upon the ground,

27And then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seed sprouts and grows and [l]increases--he knows not how.

28The earth produces [acting] by itself--first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.

29But when the grain is ripe and permits, immediately he sends forth [the reapers] and puts in the sickle, because the harvest stands ready.

You are like the Pharisee of old.

Re: Also, Xeno

The Roman Empire lasted 4 centuries after this

and fell about a Century after it adopted Christianity as the official State religion

Also, Xeno

Paul spoke of the downfall of the romans and gave reasons for it here:

Romans 1: 18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. (The due penalty was the fall of their society)

28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done

that last line should read, why are you and your ilk attempting to "divide and conquer"? (no pun intended).

Re: Re: Re: Odd -- the Roman Legions probably didn't think so.

Uh, like I said, its hurts morale. I was in the military. The problem is this openly gay thing being hoisted upon the military. If you you don't understand, its because either you have never served (likeky) and or you posess no common sense ( which Im also pretty sure of).

Remember, the Roman were pagans. So they had no morale qualms. Our military are predominatly christians, so why are attempting to divide and conquer (no pun intended)?

Re: Re: Odd -- the Roman Legions probably didn't think so.

but -- it was Roman legions that conquered the Western World while very probably engaging in homosexuality.

And what makes you think that gays in the military would hurt anything?  Can you make a list?

Again the comparison with Roman legions -- while U.S. frowns upon open "gayness" (wonder how many gays served in U.S. armed forces throughout our history?) with the reason that it harms morale, I am sure there was no such problem with that when Roman legions did their conquering.

So what do you propose to do about sex among U.S. armed forces anyway?  Abstinence?

Re:

it's probably important to keep military morale high as possible, wouldn't you think?

Probably not.

Welcome to the modern world and all the problems it creates. But once people get used to something it's no longer seen as a problem. It is then seen as the way things are.

Odd -- the Roman Legions probably didn't think so.
The millitary of the Roman Empire -- how do you think they had sex when they were away from women?
