I always liked the all-inclusive title of "Soap Opera".
I can remember before there was a TV that there were the soap operas on the radio and the comercials were always about Duz (which does everything) and Tide and a few other detergents. Which reminds me of Isaiah 1:16-17:
"Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow."

Soaps are the bibles of the dark side! In my country, there was a general shutdown when soaps came on. I was told, soaps is life!
