- Go to And in Spain: Legal Rights for Great Apes...
If you have ever met a chimp or gorilla--I
don't mean looked at one in the zoo, I mean said hello, and been acknowledged, then you know that this is an upright stride in the right direction.

If America ever decides...
...that animals have equal status as humans, they better start paying taxes, too, or I'm headin' for the banana stand!

Ahh..the apes or the demonstrators can fight over my bananas. I don't really care for them. But if they decide to do away with taxes, maybe I'll check out a home in Spain...

I am with them, no taxes and more bananas! I think it is important to protect animals but I think the definition gets distorted! Shelly

I am totally against cruelty to animals, but sometimes the definition of cruelty to animals gets a little distorted.

While in Canada, animals are still regarded as "things" own by their masters

. Which means, that unless they (SPCA or others) can prove that one person has been cruel to his/her "things", there's nothing the SPCA can do! I mean, it is NOT criminal to kick "things" around or let them starve in a minuscule tin box, so why care about them?
