You have such wonderful views in this piece! I love the humor mixed as well (the strikethroughs are so witty!). It's no wonder at all to me why your blogs are so incredibly popular!! Happy New Year and may we all keep your words of wisdom in mind as we walk the journey of 2009. God bless!

Great point. Life is what it is give or take. Bird throw out nest can't fly
dies. I oppress myself by my choicies, if get away no one see, still on me my crown and cross. Now the ending of your work shows the way human change.

I hope to be a little wiser than I am today...each year I try and commit
to one new kindness act... last year it was paying for the car behind me in the starbuck's drive thru once a week and this year it will be to take my neighbors trash to the curn when i take mine or bring them in.... little things... really

pies for everyone in 2009
I shall strive to be one of God's servants who helps to clean up the mess we've made of this world. I'm so glad that He is in charge and we are not. Thanks for your reminder of how to be better people.

Ariala,
I am a different person since Sept 07 when I became a mother. It hasn't made me a better person, but a bit more empathetic, I guess. I think we can all try to change certain things about ourselves. Listening to constructive criticism from others is a good start, IMO. I've been trying to do that more without defense mechanisms. Hope you have a great New Year!!

Wise words Ariala... can you imagine what a beautiful would this would be if all the energy that is spent by some in trying to control others would be spent instead in trying to manage their own feelings of jealousy and rage? If all that anger and hate which births wars would be rechanneled and changed into love and understanding?  It baffles the mind to even imagine the changes there would be...  and you are so right, it must start with ourselves, for what we don't like in others,  is usually what we recognize in them that reminds us of that part of ourselves we do not like.  Have a fabulous New Year together with your family and friends... All the best

Throw me a banana!..pie, that is, lol..

I may not always get an 'A' for doing, but hopefully on thinking positive, I'm a decent scorer...:) Excellent post, Ariala.. ...whenever I get riled up about another's badness, I try to remember to hold a like mirror to my own actions, intentions, etc. Hypocrisy is my pet peeve; especially the self indulged variety!..

Happy New Year!..

These are the questions with which many of us grapple every day. And at this day, as the sun sets on 2008, they are as relevant as ever. I hope we respond to your request and make 2009 better for us, better for you, better for the world.

I am preferable to chocolate cream pie - more of a mess! I agree with you.

Well, they say we're not getting older, we're getting better...
So I guess the answer to your question is "yes."  Happy New Year, Ariala.  Write on!
