..deep dark 78% cocoa words...what a fabulous description, Pat.  I'll bet you've read or heard 'mendacity' at least another twice since.

Re:decline of literacy -- blue air

I agree. But there's a new literacy afoot -- the internet, text messages, etc. -- and with some of that I'm hopelessly out of it, while the average 6th grader has it down pat. Don't know if I should shake my head and decry the decline or just get with it.

As for the blue language - remember that Paul Bunyan story where someone's profanity was so hot it melted the ice jam that was holding up the log rafts on the river and let the loggers get the timber to market?  Or do they tell Babe the Blue Ox stories any more?

"Deadwood" was fun! And so are words! And do you think, as I do, that the level of literacy has declined precipitously, including my own? I find myself using 'simple English' more and more...And as to profanity, I'm afraid the air around me turns blue on occasion...

You and my daughter Erin would be great pals, she loved Deadwood too and I never took to it because the language was very profane, worse than me even. LOL I love some of your strong words like mendacity, a political word for sure as it applies to them. LOL Happy New Year luv.

I've never seen Deadwood
but now I want to see if I can find it somewhere.  By the way I LOVE "Cat On Hot Tin Roof".
