Re: Happy Holidays
I try to be understanding. Sometimes, I wish she'd return the favor.

Re: I'm
How old? Though I know my daughter is moving out, I can't say I know what she's thinking. Even when I ask, I don't seem to understand the answer, based on how she reacts to my retorts.

Re: mousehop
You're lucky to have parents you get along with so well. I love my parents, but they can be annoying and frustrating. I love spoiling my children. I wish I were better at it.

Re: Apron Strings
Thanks. Today seems to be moving day, but so far, I'm just sitting in my room pouting. Even my son has offered to help (he wants her room, which has closets).

I'm
afraid my daughter won't want to leave home... or go to college... I don't know what she is thinking at all.

After college I moved back home and stayed until I was thirty, moving out only after I met the woman who would become my wife. Even then, my folks didn't want me to leave. I worked full time, had my own car, didn't need their financial support, nor did they need mine (I offered and they indignantly refused). I came and went as I pleased without asking permission (though I would often inform them of my whereabouts out of courtesy) and had very few rules. My only responsibilities included emptying the trash, changing lightbulbs in the ceiling fixtures, opening jars, and the occasional quick trip to the store to pick up a few needed items. Needless to say I'm spoiled rotten.
My wife and I don't have any children so the empty nest thing is something I doubt I'll ever have to experience. If I did, chances are I'd spoil them rotten too.

Cutting the apron strings..has to be done, but we don't have to like it. Good writing.
