Re: I wonder if the same with dogs.
From what I've read, it's a little different.  They still eat mostly protein and fat in the wild, but their bodies are better adapted to eating grains and other carbs.

Re: Calia
I'm a little confused about what you mean.  The study I read says that dry food has high carbs and sugar, so it overstesses the panceas and eventually the liver.  In many cases, this causes obesity and diabetes, and can cause other problems.

I’m familiar with the problem when it comes to male cats – having had to buy “special”, expensive cat food after the UTI healed up.  But I think it’s fine for females…..

Thanks genio, sinome, and dathippiekid!
I really hope it helps, too!  I've fed them little bits of wet food four times since yesterday morning in an attempt to get them used to the switch.  They've always been able to eat their dry food whenever they want, so they don't understand and they only eat the tiniest bit of the wet food when I put it down.  This is after screaming at me and trying to trip me for 10 minutes as though they were starving, lol. Six ounces of food is recommended per cat per day, so I've been giveing them a little less than two ounces each time, but they don't eat it all right then and a little has ended up getting thrown out each time.  It's a challenge, but we'll all get used to it.

Re: merkie
Thanks!  I try to keep educated on the best care for my pets, but sometimes it takes a problem to know where to look!

Re: TAPS
I tried to put my cats on diet food long before they started having health problems and they boycotted it like you said your kitty does!  When my Titus kitty got a UTI, the vet said I HAD to put him on this Feline SO food by royal canine, and both kitties hated it.  The vet fed Titus the wet food when he was at the vet, but when he got home and I filled both their bowls with the dry version of it, they refused it.  I've always fed my cats wet food once a day, and I got the royal canin version of that, too.  They refused to touch that, either for a few days.  Not knowing what else to do, I persisted with both and they eventually came around to eating it.  It was a frustrating ordeal for a few weeks, but after that they adapted.  Now they love their wet food (still the same food they hated initially), so the switch I'm making is easy.  You said that your cat doesn't have health problems at this point, but maybe try to slowly introduce wet food, see how she takes it.  Maybe even mix it up with the dry food and then slowly decrease the amount of dry.  According to this vet, dry food is really harmful for cats of all kinds.  Look into her studies if you're interested, her name is Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins, she seems to have really good grasp at what a cat should and should not eat to remain heathy throughout their life.  Whatever you decide to do, thanks a lot for taking an interest in my findings.

Pitiful is not obese or diabetic but she will not eat anything at all but Deli-cat, a dry food.  She has gone as long as a week without eating anything at all when not given Deli-cat.  By that time I can't stand it any longer and bring back her dry food.  What's a person to do?
