Definitely a label reader here, I have found that a properly executed label not only informs for the benefit of the user but for the well being of the supplier of the product to ward off lawsuits, liabilities, fault-finding.  A responsible consumer weighs all possibilities.  In doing so, I have decided that you are not much danger to my spiritual well-being, and I, definitely, am no threat to your image or ego.  Write on, gomedome.

mordent - that is probably the best way to describe what takes place

during prayer or moreso during meditation.

I have no problem with that, our disciplines are derived from honest communication with our inner being, our conscience, or whatever we choose to call it. The people that scare me are those who insist they have had two way communication with some all powerful being who is actually listening to them and acting upon their requests.

No, I've not heard of the church with the rattle snakes but will look it up for a laugh, thanx.

WileyJohn - that'd be my guess too

Fledgeling_Phoenix - maybe it is just my perspective but I see a lot of

small town thinking sporadically emerge on this site.

The wariness of strangers, the barriers instantly erected against new concepts or perspectives and the instant rejection of those who are different, are all a part of what I am speaking of. This manifests itself as you describe in intolerance and small mindedness. And as you ask "Whattya gonna do?" . . . we can only maintain our lifelong demonstration of how it should be, in the hope that those able to catch on will get the message.

TAPS. so you are telling us that you are going to skip right past the

warnings on the label?

Well, I've done that before as well, sometimes the outcomes have been as desired . . . other times not.

I have often thought that when people are speaking to God, they're are in fact speaking to their own conscience. I wonder how often God answers them back?

Frankly I'm glad most people (Americans) don't travel. Reason being because I travel quite a bit and I'm quite selfish. Also I actually want people to remain unenlightened.

By the way have you seen the church folks in the Southern States that hold and dance with rattle-snakes during service? You've got to check that out. You may be writing until the end of the year on that one.

Re:

Pardon me for butting in, but what is the point of seeing if you can read these posts without becoming obnoxious? Is this Christian masochism?

Just a thought....either don't read the posts or become obnoxious at the appropriate time.

That would go over like a lead fart I would imagine. LOL

LOL...
I come from a small town who's biggest celebrity is Jerry Falwell...a quick google search will provide the exact geography. Point being, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I left my hometown and moved around for about oh, fifteen years. I moved back about a year ago and not surprisingly, things have not changed much. While I appreciate how "decent" and "conservative" most citizens of this little burg are, I'm still taken aback by some of the fanaticism demonstrated in area churches that shall remain nameless. As someone who probably most closely affiliates herself with Buddhism as her life philosophy, you can imagine how popular I am. I don't push my beliefs on anyone, but am accepting of others' beliefs if only in an intellectual capacity. Tolerance and maturity are the two countermeasures I use to maintain my sanity in the face of intolerance and small-mindedness. Whattya gonna do?

I am going to give it another try.  Why?  Well let's just say I think I like you.
It's hard for me to not "kick against the pricks" and I know that in the past I have made comments on your posts that made your hackles rise.  It is going to be a good exercise for me to see if I can read you every day without becoming obnoxious to you.
