you've summed it up nicely the way people act when
they meet someone new, I enjoyed this piece.

that used to be bandied around. Would people go to it would they really love to meet other blogit members.

I'm still shy in a way
I have to take time to warm up to people when I meet them in person. When I use to collect autographs and meet "classic" stars I always got nervous and ended up saying something dumb.

I was born cool, calm and collected, although I lost it a bit when I realized the doc was gonna smack me! I said to him, "Listen, if you're gonna hit me on the bum, I'm gonna rearrange your face!"

I love to meet new people
I've never been overly shy, even as a child. My sister and my mom are both very shy...introverts, kind of. I take after my dad, who would talk to strangers at the gas station for ever ,while we waited in the car, thinking hurry up...lol

I was a shy kid. At 15 got a job as a soda jerk/counter waitress
in a diner. I had to greet people, make small talk to make 'em feel welcome. It was great training. As a reporter assigned to write "day in the life" stories and interviews with interesting people, I learned to listen, probe gently, have no opinions -- amazing how people open up and tell great stories. The secret is to be interested in them, instead of focusing on the impression you're making.
