Re:

Well said mordent.

Someone mentioned other countries not backing this war.  Well, the reason france and germany didn't was because they had shady dealings with Saddam.  So of course they won't back it.

Saddam had violated the no fly zone and other "treaties" from the first war.  So he's not some innocent bystander.

I also get tired of hearing the liveral media focus on all the negative.  You don't hear about all the good the soldiers are doing there.  You don't hear about how the Iraqies are glad that we are here.

Re:

I agree with your last sentence and said much the same in my first response.

But then what is justification? if not a malignant dictator than what?

WHens the proper time to step in? The world didn't step in against Hitler until the last minute.

The worlds life-line was instantly crossed with the Kuwait episode. Maybe this time the great powers had good oil deals with Saddam? That's probably more like it.

They probably figured the whole oil situation and the middle East were better in the hands of raping/gassing Saddam than with Bush re-arranging everything.

Everyone has an agenda. So be it I say as I'd rather keep out of it as well.

Let me say, Sadam Hussein was a malignant dictator alright. Even if he gassed his own people; even if he had WMDs, no one has still justified the war. If the war were justified, most of the other great powers would have participated. They ALL partiicipated in the first Iraqi war.

Are we going to displace all dictators? At what cost? Where are the legal underpinnings for such invasions? What are we going to say, if and when China adopts our posture? And it may not be long now.

Depends on how you want to look at it?

The premise was probably a lie. WMD seems to have been an excuse to go in there. The politicians are never going to just tell you the plain simple truth and maybe thats for our own good.

Whats weird is the public always seems to think they know better. i don't know where they get this idea.

Now I would say it was a dumb idea to mess with iraq but I'm being totally selfish. You see i don't care about evil dictators. That;s their problem and I don't think we should spill one drop of blood over it.

However my neighbor is a Navy Seal and he claims the war is basically wrapped up. Their objective is achieved. Saddam is gone, they have their government, new schools etc.

In all honesty the liberal media always focuses on the negative aspects and destroys the moral of the public. THis is quite evil of them.

War is war and war is hell. War is not fair and many will die. I'm sure some soldiers did go over the top but I have seen footage of soldiers playing with children and children laughing happily.

So yes it was probably an absolute lie to get it started but what you have to ask yourself is...Were they better off under Saddam, or are they better off now?

It's easy to hate W Bush, and I understand but Bush is not gassing/raping his own people like Saddam was.

So if one doesn't like the Iraq war thats totally fine by me. But don't ever complain about a malignant dictator again. And don;'t ever think a war is going to be nice or fair. You can bet we treated those people much better than if they were invading us.
