The Pantheon
Strat,
The best advice an aspiring author is given, I have heard, is to write about that which he or she knows well. I hope that you haven't learned about massive overindulging, terminal hangovers, and awakening in jails, personally. Observation of those that do, being less damaging to one's future ability to use their brain. You are so talented a writer, that I would bet that episodes like that which you describe so believably, must have been primarily learned through observation. I am hooked on your storyline, and am impatiently awaiting your next installment. Being jealous of the talent of others is petty, so I won't indulge in that. Is wishing for a tiny bit of similar talent for myself, also reprehensible? I hope not, because I can spot enormous talent, even if I lack same.

Not bad....don't give up on this....
Hey, I actually thought that this read pretty well....good dialogue, and it moved along at a good pace. I've definitely say don't give up on trying to get it published. This is far better than other stuff that gets published every day....
At first it felt like there was some inconsistency with the narration and the protagonist, but after reading it again, it flowed great.....I haven't read a whole lot of mystery/thriller books lately. I remember reading one by Lee Child a while back.....forgot the title...but it kind of took me back to that....cops, prison, badass protagonist, etc.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter....
