You've made some interesting observations of the folks in your life.
If you used T'giving day as a starting point, you could spin a few stories out of this experience. Great material for a writer.

LMAO, love how you write ! I could see baby big head and everyone you
spoke of...damn..no drinking at any of our family gatherings, either. My mom does not believe in drinking. Fledging's comment cracked me up, too...she deserves a big headed baby...oh shit...lovin' your blog !!

Yup.

I think these so-called family gatherings really can feel a bit forced. Yesterday I spent time with people that know nothing about my life, don't care or care to ask and I won't see them again until next year. I'm not even sure what my relation is to some of them (and not so secretly, I am seriously hoping there is no blood relation to some of them).

As for your adventure, if that new mommy smoked during her pregnancy, she DESERVED a big-headed baby. That's just wrong. We don't drink at my grandma's for the same reason you mentioned, but that didn't stop my ma's cousin from carrying around a coors light in a cosi. No fair.

You've probably just described....
....most family dynamics during the holidays. Certainly sounds familiar to me.
And no booze to take the edge off?? No wonder people go postal this time of year.
Here's a drink on me....
