I have been there Shelly and I got to tell you it is wonderful...the energy and the vibrancy of the ambiance is amazing when you are there in person, but the view is not always the best unless you go very early and get a front seat. I had a dorm room long ago on 34th street and I saw it a couple of times through the window of my 3 floor apartment there... now that was great! like Corbin said there was heat and bathroom and all the food and wine we wanted, but still the experience of watching it on the street is something that for those who like parades there is no match for, so I say, go for it! :-)

I went to the parade when I was in college! It was worth every minute of it! Our group stayed with a roommate on Long Island. It was almost as good as the Spring break trips to Florida! sam

I've done it twice in two different ways.....
Once.....down on the street, it wasn't that much fun........apparantly tall people get there early.....the second time....we took a group to the Crown Plaza on Times Square..on the third floor they had a huge convention room with a glass wall on the square.......they put up bleachers and had a breakfast buffet set up in the hall behind the bleachers.........NOW THAT WAS THE WAY TO GO! The price wasn't that bad....right at $50 a person.....heat, food and restrooms....yep, that's the way to go......

i am not one for parades - but the Rockettes came to Pittsburgh 2 years ago and I took my youngest daughter and her friend and we had a blast. all of downtown was decorated and we went shopping and lunched - teaching the little divas the fun in life!!!!!
