So true, Xeno-x...
The book of Revelation was referring to events already happening to Christians at the time of it's writing, and any cursory reading of it and other passages of the New Testament bear this out.
I've heard the book of Revelation described as a revenge fantasy of St. John. I'm inclined to agree.
Also, the current obsession of Christians with The Rapture and other aspects of the End Times began with John Nelson Darby, 1800-1882, the father of Premillenial Dispensationalism, which asserts that Israel is God's earthly people and Christians are God's heavenly people.
And the Rapture is nothing more than a few scattered scriptures in the New Testament that he put together to help formulate his eschatology.
Excellent post!

Infallible
While there is widespread use of types and shadows in the book of Revelations, make no mistake about it, it is not a fairy tale are a sci-fi story. The scripture is infallible and this world as we know it is moving toward a climax. It may not be today, tomorrow or the next day but at the appointed time, God will fulfill His Word. Get ready! Teh watch cry is get right or get left. I will NOT be grounded when the rapture takes place? Hope to see you aroud the throne of God. Blessings! Jim
