Re: Keep the Faith dear Taps. I gave my problems over to God as I'm hopeless
Dearest kabu, I also have faith that God will take care of me no matter what. That's the only way to go as far as I'm concerned. But, he also told us to be good stewards of what he has given us. So, I try to keep up with what is going on. But, even the people who know what's going on don't seem to know what's going on now.

Justi, with your comment and question you have sparked memories and thoughts that must be expressed in a post continuation instead of just an answering comment.

Taps
I imagine after having been with one bank so long you have someone there you are really close with. One you would go to for a loan if you needed it. Someone in the higher ranks that you would see for some sort of business advice. Ask them what is going on. If they will still be a part of this new deal? Is it a buy out or a merger. Ask them if they will still have the same staff? If they can tell you with any certainty that your banking business will remain close to what it was before this new action. As for as waiting to see about approval for this, that is always the case. The Feds have some control. They just went to sleep on Wall Street.

Re:
You're right, Sinome. The bigger they are, the more help they get from the government. Thanks for reminding me.

Its all so scary... and I never took care of such things until recently, so I am terrified to make a mistake. All we can do is follow the advice of those who seem to know what they are saying and pray to the One that never lets us down. It will be OK... I hope...If I were you i would go bigger... when the big fall they get help and you with them. Take care of you Taps.

Hey, Taps, I live with a Financial Advisor, I used to be one, and even we are flummoxed. The best advice is to ride this out, though last night Jeff came home and said, "maybe we should go to cash." So, even the "experts" have no idea!! Uncharted territory here, though stuffing it in the old mattress makes for bumpy nights.

Taps
When I first moved to KC I worked for EF Hutton down on Baltimore, next door to the Kansas City Club....many years ago :) I worked for 8 Account Executives.....sat there and watched the monied and wannabe monied retired men come in and spend all day sitting it he gallery, watching the tapes.....listened to the guys I worked for on the phone all day long talking about investing. I learned a valuable lesson....everything financial is a crapshoot. I am personally down $400k in my retirement portfolio over where I was last year at this time.....but that's about how much I had been up since I invested it. Until I am "old enough" to be able to pull it out without penalty, I look at it as very fluid and realized when I "made" so much that I really hadn't and it could come right back down - which it did with a THUD! I moved everything to money market to just sit there until my financial advisor and I agree it is worth it to jump back in....if that day ever comes. Do I wish I could have pulled it out and buried it in the back yard when it was up so much.....ya dang right!!! I'm just trying to be philosophic....easy come, easy go...HA! I think from the sounds of your situation, I'd go with my gut.....it really is as reliable as about anything!
