And I am sure that many of them find that capital punishment is just fine, an eye for an eye and all that.

We are a barbaric nation and there is no way around it. It would be possible to educate away from the need for abortions and to cut the numbers way way down, but no, we don't, or won't.

It would be possible to educate away from the need for so many prisons and guns, but we don't or won't.

Get everyone a good job here, rather than in construction in Iraq and I think that life will get better here.

Pro life has so many facets........

looks like that church is in danger at least of an investigation into whether it should retain it's tax exempt nonprofit status.

As a Catholic...
...I am outraged at this.
I voted for Obama, because he was head-and-shoulders above McCain as the better candidate.
I don't agree with abortion being too convenient, because then it gets abused and encourages people to not take proper precautions with their sex-lives, but, I also don't think the Church should use political issues as a litmus test for faithfulness.
Whatever happened to the separation of Church and State? That distinctly American innovation has somehow been forgotten, and it all began with the "Moral Majority" led by it's founder, Jerry Falwell and his cronies.
That necessary wall of separation has been decomposing ever since.
Thank you, Benzinha, for this much needed shout-out.

This lady was told , in front of the whole congregation, to move her car

with Obama signs on it, entirely from the parking lot of the church and was told that it was because he, Obama, was pro-abortion. I saw her in a video, but now I can't find the video.....oh well. This is the written story with most of what happened.

The padre is renegging on his words now....."She misunderstood, I didn't say......" sure, sure.

You shouldn't really be suprised --
Religious fanatics (of all faiths) are the most dangerous foolish people to ever exist and as a group are responsible for more war, oppression and degradation of humanity than any other group in history and this will never change religious fanatics are now and always have been and always will be the biggest threat to the human race.

kooka_lives - it is time to start relinquishing their tax exempt status

You can bet that they won't have a word to say about politics if that happens.

This is from the site you link to: "Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ's Church and under the judgment of divine law. Persons in this condition should not receive Holy Communion until and unless they are reconciled to God in the Sacrament of Penance, lest they eat and drink their own condemnation."

The sacrement of penance is basically fessing up to a priest and muttering a few incantations (prayers) afterwards. A good deal that penance, you can be off the hook in about 10 minutes.
