Perilous Times
I'd say these are perilous times because there is so much uncertainty in the economy, on top of the recent crashes. We could be facing the deepest and longest recession since the Great Depression. That's perilous. Plus wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the questionable stability of Pakistan (a nuclear power), the re-emergence of Russia (a nuclear power), and the continuing saga of nuclear development in Iran and North Korea (a nuclear power). That's enough peril for anyone, I would think. I hope President Obama is up to the job. I think the country made the right choice in the election. But I'd be more comfortable with someone like Sam Nunn in charge. You know, someone with a little longer resume.
