Something about your voicing--how you turn a phrase around, and not being afraid to use an exclamation. I sense this connection to tradition where an inner voice soars out as in the Romantics and Irish poetry, or a Dylan Thomas, and I find this completely refreshing.
I also sense that you might be trying to work 2 traditions--the Romantic and Free Form, and I can feel you chomping at the bit to write soaring lines within the freedom of couplets, rhymes, and break-out lines.
So, I say write what you hear, and read what you love; and the only test of a good poem (no matter what voice/form) is if it can hug back.
Hope I didn't step over the line, but I'm ready for take-off, but I need a pilot:
So Sing, Oh Poet!
Of all that is good
And to hammer out in the smithy of our souls
this declention of words
and to forge, once again,
this measure of our possibily
A reader in waiting...John

Into the night shadows come out.......the line stays with you as you read on. our doubts & fears lengthen these shadows.

Doubt is frightening.... Love this. Then there's that saying, "Shadow of a doubt".

Another exquisitely powerful and a realistic, thought-provoking poem from my sis Shelly. "
How is it that our doubts are so stout". So very telling! If only we could doubt our doubts, it would become feeble.

Marvelously done.

Shelly
Another powerful poem! And it is interesting how the line 'Into the night shadows come out' travels through the stanzas from first line to last...
