I love the animals and try always to take care of them. For now that's the
birds and little furry creatures that live around outside. I do want a cat but Wiley and I both feel unready for one as yet. It isn't fair to have an animal until the time is right and yes, she will live inside.

I had a puppy
run out in front of my car and I could not avoid it. I stopped and knocked on the owners door and it turned out to be someone I worked with. I felt soooooo terrible. She said he was always running out in front of cars but I felt so bad. I offered to replace him but she wouldn't let me.

I was just reading in this mornings news items about the lemings of Norway. It said that at some times when they were very plentiful there were so many road-kill lemings there that they had to use the snowplows to clear them away. YUK.

I lost a cat and dog to cars..it is a horrible experience..

I live in a tiny town; pretty rural and wildlife abundant..my saddest experience of hitting a hapless creature was a deer leaping from the woods on a narrow, gravel road; landing on the hood of my car. Scary too! The absolute worse was hitting a skunk - twice now..OMG!!...

The reason you're seeing more road kill -- budget cuts.
They're not mowing the right of way so much, not collecting the dead animals as they used to. Eventually, as the scavengers realize the highways have become a supper table, they, too, will impede traffic.

Fortunately I have not been privvy to this unfortunate action Ariala
but I can tell you that the treatment of animals in CY is horrendous in general; although with the influx of foreigners things are slowly getting better; in the past it has been quite normal to see cats and dogs (and once even a donkey on the highway) lying in the middle of the road

When I went home in October I saw a lot of dead deer along the highway
it broke my heart. You'd think that deer would be smart enough to learn how to cross the highway by now.
