Hear, hear! But of course, a few years down the line and this universal religion would begin to split into different branches, all with slightly different ideas... and all knowing for sure that they are right!

But yes, all the main religions are based on love, peace, truth etc. So why are we so afraid to worship together and tease out what we do have in common?

Re: hardilaziz - it sounds a lot like the Bahai faith
My point is that there is room for everybody in this wide world created by the Lord. It takes all sorts to make this world. You have saints, you have sinners. You have the rich and the poor. You have the Believers and the Non-Believers. No problem. Let each one live his Life the way he or she wants to. Let's tolerate everybody.

universal religion
The avatars of religions, the mystics and the saints and sages speak often of the primary purpose of religion is to bind together, to share similiar beliefs and practices as we love all people as one. We may be different but we need not attack what is different. Religion faith and God won't die, but peoples ideals will evolve.

hardilaziz - it sounds a lot like the Bahai faith

HERE is a link that outlines their views.

But I have a question; assuming that the goal of a universal religion is to unify mankind, where do those who do not believe in God fit in? Then of course you have introduced the idea in this post that there is only one God, where would those who believe in multiple deities fit in?

Re:
You call him Jesus, others call him Allah, Mahavira, Buddha. All faiths lead to Him who is one and supreme Lord!!! This is what I mean by tolerance for all faiths rolled into one.

hardilizaz, we have a blogger here now, who used to write under a different name.  He wrote a lot about this sort of thing.  He even named his universal religion something strange with only consonant letters, something like jkldljk or something.  For me, religion is meaningless unless it is built around Jesus, the Christ, Son of the Living God.  Since other religions leave him out or lessen his importance in the matter, universalizing religion is a lost cause for me.
