Family.... so dear, but not always so near. Intertwined while time races ahead. My Uncle worked in a mine in Northern Michigan most of his life. He passed away some time ago, Sometimes I wonder if that mining job is what put him in a wheelchair, don't know for sure. Taps, your poem lifted and stirred my own memories. Loved the poem.


You'll never see me swimming with alligators.

Taps, I read this stunning piece four times and three of them I studied the poem. I am just pleasantly illuminated with the imagery! It covers generations of hope and more hope through the children! It is like a quick history lesson, it is encapsulating and yet its breath is so diverse! The use of Mary as a refrain was outstanding, it breathes the hope for the children! The cadence took on a life of its own as I read it too! Just try it, you will see what I mean! Bravo to the nth degree! sam
