I have never encountered alchoholism or other addictions up close, I can only imagine what that must have been like. Scary, shamefull and uncertain. But if one can get out of it in one piece - the sky is the limit

I like this one a lot. It is quite similar to an old Quebecois conte (a fairy tale in English, although I still prefer conte, as to "raconter" telling a story) about the devil dancing so fast and so long at a party in winter that there were flames on the floor boards.

We love "contes" with the devil in Québec, specially winter contes. Well, you have to remember that winter used to be a time of storytelling around the fireplace in the old days. Not much else to do in the cold and the snow.
