Shelly... I don't blame you at all.

They are bad, bad people!

When I left my last job (yeah, the one that traumatized me for life), I didn't get a going away party...no cake, no nothing.

She always did it for everyone else when they left. And after all the shit I put up with there.

It certainly would have been nice if they had sent you flowers, or shown in some way that they cared.  Some people are cads.

You are not being selfish

You have every right to be surprise.  When you are hurting the least you expect is some kind of acknowledgement and sympathy.  Just remember that this is an awkward situation for many and some people don’t know how to express their feelings without messing it up and don’t realize that is better to do it than to ignore it or do it half way.  As we say in my country: te acompaño en tu sentimiento.
