Re: I feel like people make way too much out of it.
I don't think the teachings of Jesus was ever intended as a dreary and fear driven affair. Jesus and the authors of the Gospels wanted to help people come alive more, not get bogged down in impossible to follow restricted lives of continuous penance as was the way of the rest of the Jews at the time. Yes! If we do not have love, we may as well abandon the rest since it serves no purpose without love and love for only those who think and live like ourselves is no use either. Jesus was no fool either and knew that there will be people who will misunderstand and abuse His name and teachings for their own perceived profit and that there will be ever mounting conflict between those who strive for love and those who strive for control until it would lead to the kind of mess we find today. In the end, Love will overcome!

I feel like people make way too much out of it.
I think it is simple. Just praise, worship, and uplift what
is righteous. Uplift righteousness
so high that it becomes a beacon in your life for everyone else to see and
emulate. Be joyful and loving. Stay away from cultic ritualism and
overbearing theologies. Be fun and
happy. Have a good time. Love everyone passionately!
