Sinome, every comment like yours brightens the hope
that the majority of Americans is sitting quietly on the same sort of ideas and beliefs.  I hope they will all get up and start shouting soon!

Excellent post indeed... You should be aplauded for voicing the inner thinkings of I pray most Americans,  for we are good people, just people and as a whole very tolerant if given half a chance, when compared to the citizens of other countries around the world.  Being an American by choice not birth ( though I was raised here) I have to say that  our constitution is an amazing document. The intolerance there is around   is usually brought about by ignorance... time is needed for new ideas to be accepted and respected.  I have great faith in us, the American people.  As the different tastes of spices can make a bland meal delicious...so do  our different creeds and opinions melt us into a better nation.  Bravo ciel... great post.

Troosha, I like to think it is a kind of oversight...

that most of us are well-intentioned and fair-minded, and simply overlook things that seem quite normal and familiar.  And that when it comes to our attention that something is off kilter, we want to straighten it out.

I have hope that making some noise about this will contribute to correcting it.

Ciel
When congress decided that they would make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof I suspect they had no idea what a melting pot the U.S. would ultimately become.  There may be passionately different opinions and beliefs yet the Judeo/Christian religion prevails – it’s mainstream, so to speak. I’ll lump Canada in your observations that although it is written that we should accept all kinds of religions when it comes right down to it towns, cities, and countries are run by people who believe the Christian path is the correct and perhaps the only path.  Tolerance is lacking.   Excellent post, Ciel!
