I’ve only seen pictographs and hieroglyphics a couple of times but it was an overwhelming sensation – standing in awe as I looked at something someone had carved into the stone so many, many years before me. It’s humbling as well as a reminder that life moves forward (albeit we may be slightly more flawed or complex than back in the days when messages or stories were left on cave walls).
