Shelly...

I know how popular and easily accessible fire arms are in the oldest democracy of the world. In India, it is very difficult to come by any kind of a gun. Though the situation is changing rapidly, in contrast to the US, it is still very difficult to find any kind of a gun in domesticity. I am 23 and I haven't personally handled or even seen a Revolver or a Hand gun in my life yet. Any form of a gun I have ever handled is when I was a Naval Cadet with the National Cadet Corps as part of my extra-curriculum in my college. During the only firing drill of my life I got to shoot six bullets at the target sheet. It was fun, reloading, pulling the lever back and handling the machinery in that .22 rifle. However, I am happy that such a lethal sport is not popular in India at least until now. So never harbour thoughts of suicide when it is only a squeeze away. In one stroke of madness you could waste all plans of providence and the God you believe in and love so much. ;)

Oh No...

Personally, I am against suicide. For me it has always been an emergency exit which gives me hope. Oxymoron, yes. But the logic behind is, when I am facing extreme circumstances, by that I mean extreme, I tell myself that I always have an outside chance of ending all misery and hence I should go about what is best without worrying to much about life. If the going gets unsustainable, I thought, I can always pull the plug anytime I wanted. It has kind of worked for me. The immediate feeling after that contemplation would be that of relief. A relief, if all doors are closed and I find myself in a dead-end, I can dredge my own escape out of that situation. Somehow that inculcates positive energy in me and the will to fight replaces despair. And predeterminately as my next best choice is suicidal, I fight with all that I have got. The result ultimately is one that finds me in a clearing. Suicide for me is always an alternative option which I hope I needn't have to take. On the other hand, many might say that I was only lucky not to be forced take that option. I would say, its all in how you choose to see everything in life. I might sound Panglossian for you, but hey, if you can be happy and content with any situation and anytime of your life, why not. After all, it is not Chris Gardner alone who is in the Pursuit of Happyness in this blessed world, is it?

I suffer from horrible migraines and this line has entered my mind more than once: Bless'd bullet through shall charge easing my pain  I know it is not the answer but the thought is there! sam
