What a situation! I have sympathy for a guy who doesn't want to give up his independence, but still...does he have any relatives who could be contacted and who would be willing to have a heart-to-heart with him?
And Vogue: a chook is what is known as a chicken to you, and to me the cooked version is often known as a 'rubber eagle'...
