Comments on The Economic Consequences of 7 ½ Years of Bush

yup, there you go blaming the last ball holder when another hogged the

ball during the whole game.........Republicans did EVERYTHING and the Democrats always spend their entire political lives trying to undo the damage to our nation. BEcause we act like regular folkds we tend to disagree and take some time to get our motley crew organized.

Y'all work as a lean mean policy whipping machine and goose step to the tune being played by the band leader.

The funniest thing about this election is listening to Republicans calling themselves middle America and playing like they have those middle American interests at heart and not their own capital building interests in the fore of all of their thoughts. The dissimulation is hysterical funny when it isn't so tragically evilly sad.

Fooling America into buying into 401k Os wasn't good enough, more ways had to be found to manipulate and play with simple ignorant folks' money. Social Security would cost this nation too much. HAH. Paying for the present debaucle will cost too much and still no one will have their future secured, their old age protected.

Conservatives, my dog's poop. Non-socialists, my other dog's poop. You play and we little people pay and THAT, my friend, is socialized monetary policy, without any of it improving nor helping even one simple American who loses it all, once again, in ignorance and being underprotected by government policies and will.

Spin it all you want, it's just poop spinning and I always carry an umbrella around you spinning American folks.

Re: THE DEMOCRATS MUST BE PRETTY POWERFUL FOR THAT TO HAPPEN

Actually, Xeno-x, you're kind of off the mark here.

Bush no doubt has done little to nothing in his approach to the budget, and has not exercised what little power he does have over the spending of the Congress. The blame IS very much shared by the US Congress, and they need to be called on it.  Congress has the power of the purse, and is not confined by the budget proposed by the President. The deficit spending is at the hand of the Congress, not the president.

Regarding the mess we're in right now, legislation was proposed not once, but TWICE to create a watchdog that's being called for now, by Republican Senator Charles Hagel.  It was cosponsored by McCain during the 109th congress. It didn't even make it to vote. The party that proposed legislation to PREVENT this mess is also the Republican party.

The mess goes beyond blaming based on party, and if this nation is to ever get beyond this, they have to be properly educated on what has happened.

You say:

"George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six, the economy was fine."

Uh, no it wasn't.  In 2002, America saw one of the worst economic downturns, due to the .com dissaster.  Americans have STEADILY been spending more money on non-durable goods; Americans have not been saving money over the last decade, and realized NEGATIVE savings for several periods throughout the administration; investment (as in purchases of business capital, not your 401k) has steadily decreased.

THE DEMOCRATS MUST BE PRETTY POWERFUL FOR THAT TO HAPPEN
but seriously folks, the party that enacted the legislation that caused this mess is the Republican party.

sorry about that

boy am I sorry -- and so should everyone else be.

that's not to mention the record deficits that Herr Bush brought down upon us.  and the rhetoric up to that time about Democrats bringing us deficits and the being evil -- and when Bush does it, it's just fine -- economic stimulus.  Well at least it's good for China.  And Japan.  They could end up owning the U.S. since they have the surety bonds or whatever on our trillions in deficit.

Maybe if McCain gets in, we can wage war on Iran and destroy our economy completely.
