As a retired labor and delivery nurse
I understand how you feel out of the pool you would be more comfortable in but you are definitely on the path of learning that you are supposed to be on. In the OR if this little lady came through for surgery, all you would be able to to is to identify her, her operation and her consent before she went to sleep. With only her written chart to know her history, you would call her unfortunate also. You definitely have a talent that is being used where you are and you are learning also the value of nonjudgement.
