Thanks for the education. I used to do things with my Jewish husband,
but he was so far removed from his synagogue and its community, that we only did peripheral activities. I did more with his mother and my children, who were not his children, than with him.
He became much more devout after our divorce when he married a nice Jewish girl, a friend of my daughter. I heard about his being much more attentive to high holidays, etc. than before.
His mother is gone and I light the candles for her that she used to light for her mother.
I know that my Muslim friends just celebrated their Eid and I was sorry to miss that as the foods are all so yummy and the people are so quietly happy.

Hi, Editor!
Thanks so much for the well-wishes and for filling in for me during this time! I couldn't have explained the holidays better. I celebrated New Year with a new kitchen and gathering of family on Monday evening before synagogue. I love this time of year, despite the 25 hour fast (which includes liquids, too....no water or COFFEE! that's the toughest for me). Mal
