Re: Re:
We Liberals know better than to expect everyone to like us, but that isn't the point of choosing words carefully in diplomacy.  The point is to avoid useless provocation, and to stick to the real issue.  We don't need Russia or Putin to like us.  We do need them to behave in a relatively civilized manner; i.e. to stay within international law.  We don't accomplish that by calling them childish names.  Or is this to subtle a nuance?

"But McCain's statements about Russia were provocative and dangerous.  Calling Russia a new KGB is hardly going to get them to behave like good international citizens.  Imagine the reaction of such a statement from the President."

This statement is one that touches on a topic that I find so strange. It seems that some people in our nation have this belief that we must be certain that everyone likes us all over the wrold. Nice thought but I believe this is just your usual liberal wish list item. This thought process will prove to be the undoing of our national security. Just as Hussein Obama wishes to sit with leaders from the Middle East without any pre-conditions. If Hussein wins the election and he practices this liberal thought then you will see these nations take advantage of this; why do you think all of them want Obama to be elected? This is elementary unless you are a liberal.

Y'all must have watched a different debate than I did.  Obama gave reasoned, but hardly simple, answers to complex questions, and actually made the points he set out to make.  McCain had a hard time getting through a complete thought.  Both answered reasonably well, and most people, according to the polls, called the debate a draw.  I give Obama a small victory because he covered a lot more ground.  McCain kept repeating the same phrases, even after Obama pointed out their flaws.

And on Georgia, both the author of this post and Senator McCain seem to forget that Georgia started the shooting.  So, yes, calling for restraint for both sides makes sense.  But McCain's statements about Russia were provocative and dangerous.  Calling Russia a new KGB is hardly going to get them to behave like good international citizens.  Imagine the reaction of such a statement from the President.

The O-man
was himself........I actually was disappointed that McCain wasn't even more on the offensive, put the man-boy out of his political misery, so to speak.......The poor, poor O-man  was still thinking of how he made a fool of himself in the White House meeting.......

I actually felt uncomfortable during the debate as Obama answered the questions asked of him. I felt like he was grasping at straws to deliver the answers he thought the american people wanted to hear.
