This is lovely as usual. I really love reading the stories of your ancestry. Keep them coming for us. Be blessed.

Your elders show where you get your "sand." --
the ability to keep on keeping on in the face of stormy seas. I've known enough Brits and Aussies to tell the difference in their speech, but wouldn't be able to detect the "kiwi" in the bunch. Those of us who are of English descent share a kind of twisted sense of humor, which may or may not be so funny to people who don't understand irony. They just think we're obnoxious. heh heh heh   Love the way those folks just tucked up their skirts and got on with life... Great read, Kabu!

Mother-in-law sounds like a gutsy lady, as was your gramma love. Your stories are wonderful, and I love learning more and more about the girl I love. Loving You Big Hug Heart Sunset

Yes luv. for sure and only a local can tell the difference
People think the NZ and Aussie accent is the same but I can tell you as soon as a KIWI opens their mouth where they are from.

Exactly like the American accent, British and Irish and German and

French and a and anand annd adndndnnaandndna

depending upon which part of the country you live in, that immigrant accent is stronger than in another part of the country.
