Ceil...
Try a setting of f/16, then take your shutter speeds and run through them, starting with the fastest. If that is overexposed, lower your ISO and try again. Keep on until you get it.

Looking at the moon as it rose last night, I thought--
If we don't have an eclipse tonight, it will be next month's full moon.
Your notes on how you got that shot will come in handy then! I have trouble getting moon shots when the contrast between sky and moon is too great. I have not yet found the right manual settings with my fuifilm s5700 digital.
