Re: Re: Deja vu
I was simply recalling the public statements of Conservative standard bearers over the years, including this year.  I know there are political conservatives who don't denigrate women, but there are many, particularly the religious traditionalists, who preach that a woman's place is in the home, not the work-place.  My references are not to the 1800's, but to the last couple of years.  There have even been statements by conservatives to the effect that Palin, as a mother of a newborn, working full-time as governor "does not reflect our values".  I know about these people.  I grew up with them.  But in a presidential contest, many will gladly sell out their long-held values to defeat a Black moderate.  And of course the value of those principles is shown by the price at which they are sold.  Apparently conservatives come pretty cheap.

I'm sorry you think Palin would make a better president than McCain.  I would prefer one with some knowledge of issues, including what's going on in her own office.  But as her past is illuminated, and she faces more of the real press, her popularity will drop.  I don't know who will win.  I was surprised that Conservatives abandoned the principle of accountability, and voted for George II in '04.  I often over-estimate the intelligence and morality of my fellow Americans.  But I doubt McCain can, in the end, overcome such poor judgment as to choose Palin without even vetting her.  If he had vetted her, he would have known better than to pick her.  Or would he?

Re: Deja vu

I simply posted what was reported in two, dare I say liberal newspapers (are there any other kind), about this interview. I saw what was said and printed but I am not sure what you read or saw in this at all.

You are correct. The NOW movement consists of only liberal women and lesbians. Sorry about that, did I not include liberal women? You show here your lack of understanding of conservative married couples. Your assumption is not at all correct in our conservative household. You make it sound like some dictatorship by men. Remember it is the liberal party that supports dictators not conservatives nor in their households. My wife and I are a team. We gets things done and do not keep score. Decisions are made by consulting each other then making a decision together. Not sure why you seem to be stuck in the 1800's. Then again back then everyone was a democrat, maybe that is why.

Palin is exactly right for the job. She is more conservative than McCain to the point I wished the ticket was flipped. She is what this nation needs right now. I am sorry you are worried and as a liberal you should be because if things continue the way they are now then you will not be happy the day after the election. However, America will win overall.

Deja vu
Haven't you said that before, about Obama and his faith?  Again, he was stating that McCain, unlike certain others, has not been spreading the lie that he, Obama, is a Muslim.  It was Stephanopolus that got it wrong here, not Obama.  But maybe you see only what you want to see.

And members of the National Organization of Women are not all lesbians.  They are politically active women, and they take seriously issues that matter more to women than to men.  Hence, they generally disagree with Palin and her conservative fellow-travelers, who applaud successful conservative women in between teaching that women belong in the home, and men should make all the decisions.  Compare old quotes from Ann Coulter, Phyllis Schaffley, and others to what they say now about Palin.  Apparently consistency is not a conservative value.
