Re: I love it

Sira---no one said that the Constitution is meant to entertain.

The system is not confusing at all.  It's very easy.  Congress has certain powers, the President has certain powers, and the Judiciary has certain powers.  No one branch has all the power to prevent a dictatorship.  Congress writes the laws, the President enforces the laws, the Judiciary determines what the laws mean, and whether or not they fit in with the fundamentals of the Constitution.

There are 24 basic powers that the federal government has.  The rest is up to the individual States.

It's a fairly simple system.  What complicates it are the lobbyists, politicians and businesses that want the government to do what it's not designed to do.

Government is simple.  Politics is complicated.  They are not one in the same.

I love it

The concept of the post, that is. While I'm all about reading a variety of things, even I find this a bit dry...

But the idea of really understanding the job of president, before picking the man for the job--that's an idea I can get behind!

Speaking as a Canadian, I also find your American system rather confusing!

FYS
As a Canadian, who is often confused by the complexity (percieved or otherwise) of U.S. politics and the actual role/power of the President, I found this an interesting read.  Thanks.
