Maybe those stamps have secret radio transmitters on them that are activated when they go through the post office scanner. They tell the post office what the value of the stamp is and also report to the government things like, well, if you lost your wedding rings in the trash can lately! Ya never know.

I bought a bunch of "forever" stamps
just before the last increse! Ha Ha! One thing you can always bet is no stamp is for an even amount. I used to find one and two cents stamps at the post office where I would mail out manuscripst. People would buy stamps and the machine would give their change in stamps which they left there for me! I collected enough of them to keep up with the last postage increse. From now on its nothing but forever stamps for me!

SpitFire, yep, our stamps here in Canada are like that now, too..
they all look the same..
..at least our money is different colors so I can't get confused and hand over a $50. bill instead of a $5..
