Oh darling, it's sad, but on the other hand a chance of a fresh start for which one never is too old. You have so may talents, you'll be happy elsewhere. Take advantage of your current "nutty consition" and write or paint a downright crazy piece!!!

Re: benzinha

WileyJohn mon, Thanks for reading and sympathizing. Not one moment of life was ever what I had thought that it would be when I was much younger, so I have learned to plan less, to react more slowly and benignly and to move on, but to always keep moving.

Love you and kabu.......ciao.

mysteria, thanks for reading and commenting. I know that greenfield's suggested point of view is the only and best one to embrace and so, I shall.

Re: I know, paint, write and plants roses, no Decshak??
I shall, I am painting another canvas today and I am only painting what I ABSOLUTELY know will sell in these times when no one buys artwork....sigh.

Oh no, homegirl, I hated reading that. I wish only the best for you and for your little family and when things move backwards, I sorrow along with you.

greenfields, I know, moving, as you know, has its good points, too. I shall try to only see those. Thanks for the reminder.

so goes the economy
I had to sell both of my rental houses this year.  (Short sales... lost my shirt) Fortunately I was able to time it with lease expirations and a relocation.  Rental properties tend to cost landlords too much in a bad economy as repairs and maintenance can be expensive.

I hope  you find something great.

Re: Benzinha, It is the artists never ending plight.

Cynthia, yes, and every time that I tried to get a job and work it for  any length of time, I became so depressed that I was suicidal, with no time for my artwork , my only joy in life.

So, I tried to be more practical about just what art I could make, to really pay bills, but when the economy crashes, superfluous things go first and art is that.

Old poets and philosophers and others of our ilk.....useless as we cannot do what society wants and then that makes society angry at us.

Now, I must face the reality of having to get back to my real rent paying activity, clay.

Am about to bust out some things this weekend because they will mean the most money, first.....designs for the Chinese were rejected, except for one. I made what was suggested and now the suggestions have changed. So much time lost on that activity. Am rethinking how to go about giving them what they want but with much less time invested....and ideas are coming to me.

I have already ( ten years ago) picked out my favorite kind of shopping cart, my dumpster route and my sleeping places.

Life is good, even for old artists who disappoint absolutely EVERYONE who tells them to get a real job, as we truly cannot, some of us.

Benzinha, It is the artists never ending plight.
For much of my life I was in your situation, but as I got older, I realized I just had to stick with a job and make real money or my goose was cooked...Now I watch some of my dear friends, who are getting old, have lived in the same broken down loft for almost 30 years and are getting kicked out and have nowhere to go...

Moving gets tougher, the older we get. Hang in there. We're thinking of you...

Re: Did he give you 30-days notice in writing? Or ihas he just decided to put

Decs, I have no lease anymore, it ran out years ago and we never did anything about it....He's giving me 30 days by telling me, doesn't need to write it, has become kind of a friend, kind of....

I may bail on him more quickly than he is expecting me to or I may hang in until the bitter end, awaiting other options....dunno. Scared.

I saw a house in Pueblo, Colorado that I wanted, an old Episcopal church, actually, but no money....sigh...never any money.

Re: Sinome, I move too often and am getting too old for this.

I always get trail's end kind of places as an artist and then they are either bulldozed or sold for improvements, or something which makes me ahve to move.

I have already begun to pack.....gathering more boxes manana....

Re: What a great opportunity!

this landlord, maj, is actually very nice about deposits. He feels that, if you are there long enough, the place will go downhill some and it is to be expected. He almost always returns the full deposits of others.

As I garden and repair for him, he might just give me mine back. I do have to fix dog scratches on the doors with wood putty and new paint. I do have to clean windows and paint the little wall as I promised him....he has done me many favors, being a starving artist and all, all these years.

I am sending out feelers about renting a friend's house to then watch her African neighbor's and friend's kids from Togo for their first year in America as they begin the U of A, for a fee. I then get a bigger house, larger garden, friendly landlord and the neverending interest of little kids from other countries.

And, other funny things are coming up as the word spreads about my troubles.

Did he give you 30-days notice in writing? Or ihas he just decided to put
the house on the market? We looked at a house once in Loveland, Colorado. The whole family was there, all dressed up. There were far more people in the house than could possibly be living there. We didn't have the heart to make them move so we kept on looking at houses. We never did buy a house in that town.

Hey,  go ahead and scream ...and then start packing.  Moving is bothersome but it can be  a great adventure.  Just greathe and keep a positive attitude remembering that usually, everything happens for the best.  Good luck!

I am sorry to hear this! It could be a boon as well. I am currently packing my house for sale and it is not the most pleasant of jobs. Good luck to you!  sam

What a great opportunity!
Market's depressed, old place is a mess, you know any "cleaning deposits" are forfeit, so...don't be like my friend who almost put herself into heat exhaustion sweeping out the garage of the house they had sold and were having such a tough time moving out of.
