I think Muslim women do fall in love
but like 'arrangements' of marriage they learn to love their spouses, because they are so dependant on them. And, love outside marriage is forbidden and they are punished for it - rather harshly. However, as you say, even the Prophet was helped by an older woman, I think its a fundamentalist interpretation of the Quran that gets people in trouble - like most fundamental interpretations of any religion. However, I do think that boht men and women in Islam - that I know - suffer a great deal, in terms of handling their emotions.
