whatever happened
to Irv Kershner and Lawrence Kasdan? They were essential components to late seventies and early eighties creative science fiction, action adventure blockbusters. It seems as if Lucas got this control complex or something.

kooka, yeah, I didn't enjoy the prequels as much as the originals
I don't even own them on dvd. If I want to watch again, I'll rent.

Lucas is a business man and not really a story
teller any more. This was fairly clear with the prequels. He just doesn't have
that magic any more. He more and more seems to look at things as how much money
they can more above all else. The funny thing is that if he thought that way 32
years ago, Star Wars would never have gotten made and most of what made him his
money back then he would not have done because it was too risky and might have
failed.
One thing I think hurt the prequels was that it was
clear that Lucas was in charge and there was really no ad-libbing, which was one
of the things that really helped the Original movie. Lucas' need for total control
ends up hurting the final products.

The Clone Wars take place between episodes 2 and 3, following Anakin and
Obi-Wan during that time frame. It is an era that has already been done in the
comics, novel and even cartoons already before this. I am unsure as to why
Lucas felt he needed to revisit this time frame yet again and do it so badly.
We'll just have to wait and see how the regular episodes of the cartoon series
ends up going. Hopefully it will get better.

What was Lucas thinking? I haven't seen the movie, nor do I want to..
for me, it'll just ruin the big Star Wars picture.

Where does it fit in the sequence
I've seen all the live action movies though I wouldn't describe myself as a Star Wars buff - where does the Clone Wars fit? I saw trailers and somehow it didn't appeal to me after the majesty of the live movies - the first of which I saw from the front row (looking right up at the screen!) when I was 9 years old...!
