Oh
Like when I listen to Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon.
Now there is something timeless.

actually,
and I know that in your line of thought this does not help the case for Christianity either, a large part of the Bible was written far more than 2000 years ago.  But for me, that is one of the things I love about it.  I love that these ancient Holy writings are so relevant to me: my soul, spirit and everything I do and say.  Every time I open the Book I learn something new.  I am taught something more about God and about myself.  More of the world is revealed to me.  I cherish that.  God says, and his followers believe, that this is the living word, the same yesterday, today and forever and yet always speaking new things, always relevant for today.  For us, the fact that it is so old and yet we see such truth and life - this is what makes us believe and love our Lord.  These ancient truths are new every day.  We don't see it as a dusty old tome in need of replacement.  The fact that it has never been removed from it's place as being the best-selling book every year since the printing press was invented attests to the truth of this.  Of course, there are other writings, old and new, and there are other references to be made in defense of our faith.  But the Bible will always be the first defense for a Christian because they see it as the first Truth.  I would wonder at a Christ follower who didn't reach for his Bible first.

Funny thing
Kissing Hank's A$$ did not really get much attention. I have said other stuff that was no where near as insulting (Which I will admit there is a level of Hank's A$$ that is insulting. I didn't write I just found it and felt it made a good point) ad these less insulting post seem to have made people more angry for some reason.
While I do not agree with you on many thing, you are not one of the ones who screw up your own case by acting contrary to what you claim your beliefs to be.
As for the Bible thing, that does not help your case. If you can only use the Bible, then you prove one of my points. In order to have fact you need to more than just what was written almost 2000 years ago. Which is one of the reason I have a hard time believing. I do need something more than just what one book says to believe.

wow

I sincerely hope that I have never given the impression that I think you are anything like a "stupid, ignorant pothead".  Those words never entered my mind in relation to your blog or anything else you do here.  And if you ever thought I was trying to make you look bad, please know that was never my intention.  I wouldn't intentionally do that to anyone.

I would like to clarify something, however.  Regarding your statement that you would love to find someone who defends himself with something other than his Bible.  I assume you are talking about Christ followers.  In that case, the Bible is the basis of our beliefs, it's what we draw our life and our inspiration from.  What else would a Christian "defend" himself with?

Also, I would like to say in response to your claim that you were not trying to attack anyone.  I humbly disagree.  Although you are in no way offensive in the way of, say, Chris, you do tend to give a tone of attack in some of your posts.  I'm thinking specifically of posts such as "Kissing Hank's...".  While you may not say the words "Christians are stupid, mindless sheep"...   Also, you may not understand that to a follower of Christ, an attack on Jesus is a very personal attack.  I am deeply in love with Him.  Consider someone saying some of these things about your wife.  I'm not saying this to make you stop doing what you are doing.  If it bothers me, I just don't read.  However, it may help you to understand the reactions of some of your readers when you say things that may be disparaging to the One whom we love above any other.  Of course, I know that this does not excuse rude behavior in any way.  I cringe when I read some of the things Christ followers say.  Also, I know that you have probably been on the receiving end of some unsolicited attacks as well.  I'm just trying to say that this problem is not one-sided.  We, all of us, have human fallibilities, whether we are followers of Christ or not.  You already knew that, though.

This comment is more like a whole post.  I hope you made it to the end without falling asleep.
