Very thought evoking and flowing verse, Sam!

Life is rather like that Shelly
the paddle breaks, we get another and so the ride goes on; superb poem my friend; many blessings and thanks always

We do learn things quite late in life !

Hmmm... two's company... but solo can be easier to handle
That's a great metaphor for relationships. To be able to be in one, you have to give up the ease of canoeing solo and risk having a partner who might let you down...  but if they stick around and build something with you that's a wonderful experience.

Wonderful
I am still wishing for the jet ski... and wondering why I am so often floating holding on to a broken piece of wood

Great writing, Sam.  I remember well how two in a canoe must cooperate well to win the race, or reach the destination intact.

Shelly
That's why I prefer sailing - less effort, most of the time anyway, lol. Seriously though, great poem...

Wonderful, Sam!
Life has it's way of throwing us off course...we just have to stay focused and keep at it.

Wonderfully touching, a heart wrenching ride, whether in the graceful canoe or a capable

kayak, steering on your own . . . can be a challenge. You go, always to the deep water

and your poetry flows with great feeling.(Healing . . .)Flower

Very poignant poem Sam...drenched in feelings and as always reflecting your innate wisdom.  Great job!

The remarkable asset of the canoe is that it is as
sturdy as you make it and as unsteady as you allow
it to become
.
This is an extraordinary comparison to life.
