cultish groups have existed forever and shall go on.

My cousin's daughter was finally freed after years away from the family and I think that she still needs help with her need to let all and any others lead her, except for her mother....her only parent left now.

We Arizonans have some pretty strong groups in our midst. This particular group was in Sedona and then moved to Tubac. I don't know whether some remain in Sedona, but cults are queer little communities.

My brother had some Moonies living across the street from him for decades and he pitied them.

In Living Colours' song, 'The Cult of Personality' pretty much covers it. Some people just really want to be sheep and be shepherded. All of us would like a great leader to lead us out of this present day news story, which ever it is.

I found this to be a very good article that needs to be read and reread as
needed till one understands that radical people are dangerous, no matter if they are a member of a certain religion or no religion at all.  I live around radical christians, they exist in alarming numbers in my neck of the woods.  This is an important topic and thanks for writing about it and bringing it to everyones attention.

A good article ...

... I would only say that I look at it that it's the religions (especially the 3 Abraham religions are filled with violence and justified violence) that's the really core of the problem.

I think, if we just jump over what religions do with peoples minds, we will continue to experience different kind of violence from different religions. We shouldn't underestimate the power religions have on people, 'cause we're not only skin and bone - that's the problem : we're humans with this energy force we call soul, and we possess this fragile (but also strong) mind with a psychological possibility to turn in many directions.

We see mythologies as 'stories' from an ancient time with no power to do what religions do today - and with education we can teach our children that religions are a mix of fiction and reality on the same level as mythology - and start to turn the power of religion.

I thought Santa Claus was real when I was a kid, and I thought Jesus had made physical footprints on this earth - but I learned the brutal truth that Santa Claus was fiction (and he fell down from the sky) - and I found out that Jesus also was fake (and other prophets). That was to be a grown-up.

This is sick
And the scriptures quoted are mostly way out of context.  One would be tempted to suspect that these people would much rather follow Peter than Jesus (and maybe they do).  They also quote my primary cultural Hero as if He would have given His blessing to their cause and this is unacceptable to me since His Life story was, and still should be, a major catalyst for forgiveness and love.  I have to consent though that we are living in a time where it becomes increasingly difficult to find direction in life through the traditional institutions and I have sympathy with those who are misled by their "superiors" and peers into the same unjust actions they supposedly condemn when perpetrated by others under different banners.  I sure hope we as the Human race can get over this very horrible patch in our collective history asap.
