It is a very scary situation - and have you noticed that it isn't on anybody's political radar screen, certainly not the candidates'? I suspect the reason is that nobody, absolutely nobody, has a a good, realistic answer. I agree completely wit RSM, but realistically his 'solution' isn't one at all! Politics involves doing the possible...

Re: RSM, you're preaching to the choir!
Thank you! It is time for a strong conservative minded individual who knows both sides, not some rich lawyer or politician or business man. You select a person who knows both sides, who believes in God and surround them with someone who knows military then we can not be beat! Case closed!

RSM, you're preaching to the choir!
Both sides have screwed us over -- you nailed it.

And Why Have We Lost It?

My Dad worked for Burlington Industries (textiles) from 1954 until 1987. Thirty three years of some of the best times this nation will ever see. Now what is our country? We are a service country. We sell service! That's it! Know why we have come to this point? I fault both sides, blue and white collar. I am a white collar and my Dad was a blue collar so I know a little about this issue. The white collars see where they can make a buck, which that is all it is about, right? So the white collars see that if they move their business into a cheaper labor force such as China where the communist pay about 2 cents a day to their own damn people to make goods then all is good. Meanwhile back at the ranch, we have the blue collars standing on the curb with some stupid protest strike sign about their employer as they demand $16 an hour to do their job. As the blue collars stand there making their union proud by really sticking it to the white collars, the union is busy stating what they have done for the blue collars so they raise their monthly dues.

So look around you if you want an answer to this question. If I was president one day, which since I am not rich and do not wish to committ adultery on my wife this will never occur, I would reopen all textiles, manufacturing and on/off shore drilling and get this nation back to work, happy with their paychecks and then I would not raise taxes, then defend our nation here and abroad. Now that is a compassionate conservative my friend.
