Well, at least you aren't really far off the mark...

LMAO
I'm the same way.  Back at my ten year reunion I ran up and hugged a girl and called her by the wrong name.  "OMG!  You look so good, Susan.  How have you been, Susan?"  She said, "Susan was my best friend.  I'm Amanda."

Now, if you put it that way...where do I fill in the forms to join the big club?

Purple Mermaid
Yes, it was awkward, although I think the woman felt more embarrassed than me!

my dear we're in the same boat...i often find myself caught up in that scenario...i so remember the face but not the names specially someone whom i havent seen in years. But if its a real good friend, I doubt it if I would forget his/her name in years though...some awkward moment you had there ha...

Forgetting names

This has happened to everyone! Even me, with my normally pornographic memory! If I cannot recall someone's name, it means that this person was an acquaintance, and never a "friend." I too, am bad with names and have been known to try "faking it." Those to whom this happens regularly, are accustomed to this happening. As EMBARASSING as this is, when it happens, remember that they already realize that they are boring or offensive, so you are a member of a very big club. The forgotten person will still be happy that you spoke to them, because those who do, are members of a very small club! HA! HA!

Ha ha - that was so funny.

I was on my way into a store and a guy was coming out. I (very confidently) said: Hi *first name*! and he looked confused but said Hi! happily back.

When the doors closed I realized it was a famous actor, whom I ofcourse didn't know.

A few weeks later I passed him on the street where he was getting into a car. He saw me and waved  (probably still wondering who the heck I was)
